6.2 Buyer Inspection. Buyer confirms having had the opportunity to inspect the vehicle, test-drive it, and commission an independent pre-purchase inspection by a mechanic of Buyer's choosing. Buyer is purchasing based solely on Buyer's own evaluation.
6.3 Known Defects (to Seller's Knowledge):
[[List known defects, e.g., "Transmission slips at highway speeds" - or "None known to Seller at time of sale"]]
6.4 No Georgia Lemon Law Protection. Georgia's Motor Vehicle Warranty Rights Act (O.C.G.A. §§ 10-1-780 to 10-1-793) applies only to new motor vehicle purchases from dealers and does NOT apply to private-party used vehicle sales.
PART 7 - TITLE AND LIEN STATUS
7.1 Seller's Warranty. Seller warrants that:
- Seller is the lawful owner of the vehicle with legal right to sell;
- Seller will deliver a validly assigned Georgia Certificate of Title.
7.2 Lien Status:
- [ ] CLEAR TITLE: No liens, encumbrances, or security interests exist.
- [ ] LIEN EXISTS: Lienholder: [[Bank/Finance Company Name]]; approximate payoff: $[[Amount]]. Seller shall satisfy the lien at or before closing and deliver a lien-release with a clean title. (Buyer should not release payment until lien is confirmed paid off.)
PART 8 - GEORGIA DMV TRANSFER REQUIREMENTS
8.1 Title Assignment. Seller shall properly complete the assignment section on the back of the Georgia Certificate of Title:
- Buyer's full name and address;
- Date of sale;
- Odometer reading (or exemption);
- Seller's notarized signature (required under Georgia law - O.C.G.A. § 40-3-31; Georgia title assignments must be notarized).
8.2 Buyer's Title Application Deadline. Buyer must apply for a new Georgia Certificate of Title within 30 days of purchase at the County Tag Office in the county where Buyer resides (O.C.G.A. § 40-3-21). Required documents:
- Assigned Georgia title (notarized on assignment section);
- This Bill of Sale;

Buyer pays TAVT at the time of title transfer. The TAVT rate is based on the fair market value of the vehicle (not necessarily the sale price), determined by the Georgia DOR's assessment, at a rate of [[7%]] of the assessed value (rate as of June 2026 - verify current rate and applicable exemptions at dor.georgia.gov). (There is no traditional sales tax on motor vehicle transfers in Georgia; TAVT takes its place.)
8.4 Seller's Notification. After the sale, Seller should report the sale to the Georgia DOR to release Seller from future liability for accidents or violations by the new owner. Sellers may report the sale online at dor.georgia.gov or at the County Tag Office.
8.5 Georgia License Plates. Georgia license plates stay with the Seller, not with the vehicle, unless the Seller transfers the plate to another vehicle. Seller should remove and retain the plate upon sale. Buyer must obtain new Georgia plates at time of registration.
8.6 Emissions Inspection. Certain Georgia counties require emissions testing before vehicle registration. Seller represents: [[Vehicle has a valid Georgia emissions certificate, certificate number ___, valid through [date] / no valid certificate - Buyer responsible / vehicle exempt (pre-1975 / diesel / electric / other)]].
